RESPITE AND ADULT CARE CENTER
What is Respite Care?
Respite is defined as a “rest or break from something.”
Respite care gives caregivers a much needed possible break by having other caregivers take over their duties on a short-term basis. As more and more of the younger generation becomes responsible for the care of their aging parents, "Respite Care" has increasingly become a safe way to support and help caregivers.

Who Receives Respite Care?
Our Respite Care Services apply to caregivers of physically or aging adults. If you are caring for an aging parent who can no longer take care of him/herself, you’re not alone. At High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, we offer respite care to aging adults, seniors and the elderly, allowing their caregiver or family members giving care to take a break, go on a vacation, or tend to other family matters and be assured that their loved one is receiving experienced and compassionate care at our facility.
Who Are Their Caregivers?
A caregiver can be yourself, someone you hire from a service, a neighbor, a friend, a family member or a certified healthcare giver. Many times when a spouse is unavailable or unable to care for their spouse, the responsibility usually rests with a child or family member. Adult children report spending between 20 and 40 hours a week caring for a parent and the need for respite grows as the number of hours increase.
When a parent moves into a family member’s household, one person in that household typically takes on the role of “primary caretaker,” while the other family members act as “secondary caretakers.” Unfortunately, an aging parent is often brought into the home without adequate consideration given to the family’s quality of life or the effect of disruptions in the family’s normal routine.
Respite Care not only relieves the primary caretaker, whomever that might be but also relieves the entire family.

High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is here to help you so that you
may continue after your "rest" to provide attentive, safe and continuing
care for your aging spouse, parent or grandparent.

Quality Respite Care Services
Caring for a loved one can be one of life’s greatest honors but also can present a challenge when balancing other life pressures. While the loved one may not be ready to permanently move to a different care setting, a brief respite stay at a short-term or long-term-care facility serves a dual purpose.
First, it can provide a test run of a potential new care environment. And second, it can give peace of mind to a caregiver who may need to address other priorities for a few days or weeks but needs to arrange for their loved one to receive the care they need while they are away.
Trusted care for a few days or a few weeks.
During a Respite Care visit at a facility, caregivers can rest assured that their loved one will have 24/7 care support by licensed caregivers that can help monitor their daily activities including the following:

-
24/7 care supported by licensed caregivers
-
Assistance with dressing, bathing and going to the restroom
-
Medication management
-
Nutritional program supervised by a Registered Dietitian
-
Physician visit transportation
-
Social and recreational activities
-
No minimum stay required

"ADULT CARE CENTER" PROGRAM
Our "ADULT CARE CENTER" Program
High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center has an exceptional "Adult Care Center" program that offers Adult Day/Evening Care to seniors who live at home or with a loved one or caregiver but require care when someone is unavailable. Our program provides quality care, social interaction, and activities on a daily or evening stay. Whether they are enrolled for just a day, a few times a week or daily, our staff of experienced caregivers ensures a happy and stimulating experience that keeps our "program members" coming back more and more frequently.
What Is An Adult Day/ Evening Care For Seniors?
An adult daycare service is a professionally managed environment usually in a nursing facility that offers respite or day/evening care for older adults. Typically this type of facility caters to adults who have trouble with day to day tasks and need assistance, have disabilities or dementia. In addition to providing a safe and secure setting for the adults during the daytime or evening hours, an adult day/evening care center also offers specialized, stimulating and social activities. These often include social interaction with residents of their own age, health care services that are tailored toward this age demographic and individual care according to the resident's needs.

Adult care is an option for senior living that allows elderly adults to be cared for in a day or evening time facility that provides aging adults with medical services, cognitive stimulation, social interaction, educational activities, music and memory, exercise, or meals, supervised skilled and trained staff of nurses and caregivers. This can help seniors overcome emotional or physical needs and help seniors boost their health and wellness.
Adult Day/Evening Care for Seniors:
High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center's "ADULT CARE CENTER" program offers "Senior Adult Day/Evening Care" services with an unlimited time of stay designed to provide care and companionship for older adults who need assistance or supervision during the day or evening. The goal of our program is to provide alternative care, to enhance self-esteem, and to encourage socialization. We provide social activities, meals, recreation, and some health-related services.

High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center's day and evening care
"Adult Care Center" (ACC) program offers:

Memory Care:
While High View does not have a separate Alzheimer's and Dementia Unit, our staff is highly trained in the care of residents who suffer from Alzheimer's and Dementia. We have specialized memory programs that include services to cover these medical issues. When a senior has Alzheimer's disease or dementia their mental functions and memory are slowly destroyed. This is due to brain cell degeneration that cannot be cured. However, with specialized care, trained caregivers, and our certified programs such as Music and Memory an Alzheimer's or dementia resident can benefit at our Adult Care Center program and slow the progression or improve symptoms.
Residents with dementia suffer conditions that impair brain functions. These functions are judgment and memory loss. Seniors who suffer from dementia experience limited thinking abilities, forgetfulness, and a loss of social skills. Dementia also causes sufferers to be unable to handle daily functions, such as preparing meals and remembering to take medications. Our facility provides Alzheimer's and dementia patients with a safe place to stay during the daytime providing them with cognitive therapy and memory training to help them regain lost brain connections associated with this brain disorder.

Military Veteran Adult Day Services:
High View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a VA Approved facility. Through the US Department of Veterans Affairs, you can sign up for military veteran adult day services. The VA allows Adult Health Care for the full day or half day care. Typically a veteran would go to the center two to three days per week, but they are permitted to go every day. Our center provides skilled services, such as bathing, getting dressed, preparing meals, and providing medication. All veterans who qualify for the VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package usually have a clinical need and are eligible to receive Adult Day Health Care services.

Our "Adult Care Center" program vs Other Senior Living Options
The primary reason why family members choose to send their loved ones or seniors on their own choice to come to our "Adult Care Center" is to receive limited care during the hours they are unattended. High View's Adult Care Center is not just limited to the hours of a typical working day of a caregiver or loved ones, we are here for them during the day or evening, 7 days a week.
By bringing your loved one to our Adult Care Center program, a caregiver can rest assured that their loved one or family member is being provided with professional treatment, age-related socialization, and opportunities to improve their health and well being. Although we are a nursing center, seniors in our Adult Care Center program return to their own residents or the homes of their loved one at the end of each day or evening.
Most of the seniors in our "Adult Care Center" program have most of their autonomy. They are not bedridden and do not require 24/7 on-call medical support but do require assistance or are not able to be left at home alone to care for themselves. We find many enrolled in our program enjoy the activities, events and socialization interaction High View has to offer and prefer to have the company of other residents rather than the loneliness at home.
By attending our "Adult Care Center" program, unlike an in-home senior care that would limit the amount of socializing a senior is able to have, our ACC program is also a more affordable option for seniors due to the low-impact type of services that are needed.

Elderly adults have overcome a host of age-related issues including depression, loneliness, fatigue, and loss of brain function by being involved in our program. Seniors are able to socialize, learn, move, and experience daily routines under the guidance of our professional caregivers.
The choice of attending our Adult Care Center program is a perfect alternative for seniors who are not ready or do not need to transition to a full-time care facility, such as a nursing home. High View's Adult Care Center provides the right amount of interaction, relationship building, stimulation and compassionate care in a trained environment, without forcing the seniors to experience a complete disruption in their own home setting.

Some people, no matter how old they get,
never lose their beauty...
They merely move it from their face
into their hearts.
We turn not older with years, but newer every day.
